May Your Life Be Long (إطول عمرك – Etuel Omrak) is an Arabic classic song by Lebanese artist Azar Habib from the album Eternal Echoes, released in the 1970s. This soulful, nostalgic track runs for approximately 4 minutes and was written by Samir Naoum and composed by Rami Jaber.

Verse 1

Oh, you who leave our village, when you return, set it right.
ya rayeh adeyetna, berjou’ak sawbi hawwel

Our absence has stretched long for her, and may your life be prolonged, however long it may be.
taalat ‘anha ghayebetna, wa yattawwel ‘umrak ma tattawwel

Verse 2

This village in which I was raised, and her absence is felt in every home.
haldaye’a elli fiha tarabbeit, wa mughayyabha bayt wa bayt

In it, I fell in love and loved, and I embraced my first love.
fiha inhabbeit wa habbeit, wa labbeit al-hob al-awwal

By God, our absence has grown long, and may your life be prolonged, however long it may be.
wallah taalat ghayebetna, yattawwel ‘umrak ma tattawwel

Verse 3

Find for me a house along your path, the very first sight to my eyes.
shufli bidarbak bayt bayyi, awwal sura b’ayni

And sing for me a tune, and let the mawwal flourish.
waghanni ‘anni ghanayya, wa khalli al-mawwal yammuwel

By God, our absence has grown long, and may your life be prolonged, however long it may be.
wallah taalat ghayebetna, yattawwel ‘umrak ma tattawwel

Verse 4

How fortunate you are, what do you think? Our lovely village is all for you.
niyyalak shu ‘abalk, adeyetna al-helwa ibbalak

Bless me and those who follow you, and may goodness be bestowed upon me.
a’llalli wa illi ‘aqbak, wa bil-khair ‘alayyi fawwul

We have missed you, and our absence has grown long—may your life be prolonged, however long it may be.
ishtaqna wa taalat ghayebetna, yattawwel ‘umrak ma tattawwel
